Pads vs. Tampons
Always Infinity vs. Always Ultra Thin
Pads!
Pads are basically sticky, absorbent materials that you put in your underwear when you're on your period! It collects all the blood that comes out. Well- not all the blood. It covers you for up to 6 hours, but I wouldn't count on that! The best time to change you're pad is eer 3-4 hours. But, if you are like me, then you need to change it about every hour to an hour and a half. The reason why you need to change it quite frequently is because sometimes when you have a period it produces some odor if you don't go to the bathroom to clean yourself.
The pads that I like the most are Always Infinity and Always Ultra Thin.
Another good brand is U by Kotex Tween.
A "Tween" Pad is basically a smaller pad that is designed for more "petite" girls. It has the same absorbency, but it just is a little bit smaller.

How to know when to change your pad
I know that people say "You will know when you need to change it" and most girls who haven't gotten their periods yet will probably think "What the heck does that mean?!?!" So, I will try to do my best to explain.
For one, all girl's flows are different. Like you have heard before, when you feel it get heavier "down there" that is when you have to change it. But really, instead of wearing one single pad all day at school, I would put one on in the morning and then change it at lunch. If you are at school, just bring your backpack/books/pencil case to lunch and go and change it right before you leave to go to class so you can bring your books into the bathroom with you. That should be a good amount of time to change your pad, it's about 5-6 hours-ish and is good if you have a light to regular flow.
But I'm extremely paranoid if I wear a pad to school, so I change it every one to two hours because I really don't want to have a leak!

Thickness
Basically, there are 2 different thicknesses. Here is a small explanation on them! :)
Thin: This is like Always Infinity, Always Ultra Thin, U by Kotex Pads, etc. They'ree very thin.... almost paper thin, but they still have the same amount of protection! These are the type of pads that I prefer because:
1. They are easier to store
2. They are easier to hide from others when you are at school and need to change your pad
3. They are so thin, you can barely tell that you are even wearing a pad!
Thick: This is basically a maxi pad... and the title says everything... it's maxi! Examples of these would be Always Maxi or Kotex Maxi. They are basically so thick, that it touches your skin and you can feel it... but you can't really feel the blood "fall out" of you as much... so that's a bonus!

Length
There are a few different types of lengths... so here they are!
Regular: This is the kind that most prefer.... it's about 6 inches long and it's what I use.
Long: This is about 2 inches longer than regular. It is for peopole with heavier flows

Wings
I personally prefer wings, because it helps the pad stay in place and it makes me feel more secure because it protects leaks better and it won't fall off of your underwear
